A video call lets you see the person you are talking to. It is a wonderful way to keep in touch with children and grandchildren.
โ What you need
- A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera
- An internet connection (Wi-Fi is fine)
- The other person ready to answer
Step by step
- Open the video call app. On many phones this is FaceTime (Apple) or Google Meet. Open the video call app or website. On a computer this is often Google Meet, Zoom, or Skype.
- Find the person you want to call in your contacts list.
- Tap their name, then tap the video camera button. Click their name, then click the video camera button.๐ก The camera button usually looks like a little video camera.
- Wait a few seconds for them to answer. You will see their face when they do.
- When you are finished, tap the red button to hang up. When you are finished, click the red button to hang up.
๐ก Helpful tips
- Sit somewhere with a light in front of you, not behind you, so they can see your face.
- It is okay to practice with a friend first. Nobody gets it perfect the first time.
Video calls feel almost like being in the same room. Once you have made one or two, it becomes second nature.
