A video visit (also called telehealth or a virtual visit) lets you meet your doctor on screen. You sit at home and they see and hear you, just like a video call with family.

✅ What you need

  • A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • An internet connection
  • The link or app your clinic sent you (usually in an email or text reminder)

Step by step

  1. Check your appointment reminder — your clinic will have sent a link or the name of the app to use.
  2. A few minutes before your visit, tap the link in your reminder text or email. A few minutes before your visit, click the link in your reminder email.
💡 You may be asked to allow access to your camera and microphone — tap or click Allow.
  3. Enter your name and the last four digits of your date of birth if prompted, then join the waiting room.
  4. Wait a moment — your doctor or nurse will join shortly, just as they would in a regular waiting room.
  5. Speak normally during the visit. Tap the microphone button if you need to mute yourself. Speak normally during the visit. Click the microphone button if you need to mute yourself.
  6. When the visit is finished, your doctor will end the call. You can also tap the red button to leave. When the visit is finished, your doctor will end the call. You can also click the red button to leave.

💡 Helpful tips

  • Find a quiet, well-lit spot. Light in front of you (not behind) helps the doctor see your face clearly.
  • Test your camera a few minutes early if it is your first time — there is usually a test button before you join.
  • If the link does not work, call your clinic's regular phone number and they will help you join.
  • Many clinics send a visit summary to your patient portal within a day or two.

Video visits work well for prescription reviews, follow-ups, and minor concerns. You do not have to drive, park, or sit in a waiting room — and your doctor gets to see you just as clearly as in person.
